BELPHEGOR (AUT)
PESTAPOKALYPSE VI Nuclear Blast Records

Austria´s grimmest Belphegor have never been the most subtle of bands spreading their plague of blackened death metal for 13 years now in the sickest and most inhumane way possible. Having over the years gained a die hard following of god-hating disciples made even larger by last years storming "Goatreich-Fleshcult" album, its no wonder the their brand new outing "Pestapokalypse VI" sounds even more threatening, even more confident than anything they have achieved in the past.

No intro of thunder, keyboards, choirs or goats shagging nuns, Belphegor launch straight into attack with the absolute killer "Belphegor - Hell's Ambassador" full to the brim with powerful devil-raising riffs, gravel-throated screams and blast beats by the trillion. Blacker than the clouds lurking over Mordor this is music that will send tingles down your spine with riff after riff of pure evil intent. Not afraid to add melody, pace or hints of a more eastern flavour, Belphegor make these 40 minutes of brutality a most enthralling listen.

Masterfully crafted, not a single filler can be heard with each of the nine tracks standing out in their own right. You have the pure black metal of "Seyn Todt In Schwartz", the pounding doom of "Angel Of Retribution", the brooding death metal of "Pest Teufel Apokalypse" and the mid-paced atmospherics of "Bluhtsturm Erotika" all in one entirely coherent and outstanding package, which in this day and age of extreme music is something very special indeed. Sounding tighter than an angel´s rectum "Pestapokalypse VI" is not just Belphegor´s best but one of the best black/death metal albums released over the last 5 or 6 years.
To not get yourself a copy is an offence to the underground music industry and is ultimately punishable by death so stop fucking about, and be prepared to succumb to the pestapokalypse.
